I’m a fully qualified teacher with over ten years of classroom experience and various leadership roles, from Head of Faculty right up to Deputy Headteacher. I have a PhD in Biochemistry and have taught all three sciences to GCSE as well as Biology and Chemistry to A-Level. My background in science fuels my passion for helping students not only succeed in their exams but also develop a genuine curiosity for the subject.
Teaching has always been my passion - I love helping students grow in confidence, develop their love of learning, and truly understand science. For me, the best part of teaching has always been those ‘aha’ moments when everything suddenly clicks into place.
But as much as I loved my time in schools, the demands of senior leadership don't mix well with a busy family life. I have three young boys, and after stepping back to spend more time with them, I found myself drawn to a new challenge - helping students in a way that truly prioritises deep learning, effective study strategies, and real results.
I know that students put in the time when it comes to their studies, but they’re not always sure how to make that time count. We’ve all been there - staring at a to-do list, unsure where to start, and procrastinating instead. The truth is, studying isn’t just about putting in hours - it’s about using the right strategies.
That’s why I developed my ACE Method for science learning and revision:
This method is at the heart of everything I do, from the resources I provide for assessment and planning, to the group programmes that promote active learning, to my proven Walking Talking Mock approach to mastering exam techniques.

I believe that effective learning isn’t about memorising endless facts - it’s about understanding, applying, and practicing in a way that actually sticks. That’s why my tutoring isn’t just about covering content, but also about:
Helping students take control of their own revision with structured planning.
Using active learning techniques that boost retention and understanding.
Developing exam confidence by practising the skills needed for top marks.
I am fully DBS checked, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment for all my students. mdLEARNING is here to support students in studying smarter, not harder, so they can achieve their best without the stress.
If this sounds like the support you’re looking for, I’d love to help!
