Weekly GCSE Science Exam Practice – Chemistry Paper 1
A recorded GCSE Science Exam Practice session focused on Chemistry Paper 1: Group 1 metals, electrolysis and carbon nanotubes.
Students begin with a clean set of exam-style questions to attempt independently. They then work through the recording with me, learning how to interpret each question, select the relevant science and build answers that gain marks. Ideal for mock revision, this session combines key Chemistry knowledge with practical skills, chemical equations and calculations.
This week’s session covers:
-
Group 1 metals: electronic structure, reactions with water and trends in reactivity
-
Describing observations and balancing symbol equations
-
Explaining reactivity using electron shells, shielding and electrostatic attraction
-
Electrolysis of aqueous solutions: ions, conductivity and predicting products
-
Writing balanced half equations for reactions at the cathode and anode
-
Practical safety and calculations involving charge, current and time
-
Carbon nanotubes: structure, bonding, properties and uses
-
Explaining electrical conductivity using delocalised electrons
-
Calculating amounts in moles using the Avogadro constant and standard form
-
Command words, showing working and writing clear scientific explanations
Included:
-
A printable exam-style question workbook
-
An approximately 47-minute recorded walkthrough
-
Fully annotated answers to download after completing the session
Suitable for AQA Combined and Separate Science students in Years 10 and 11. The content is focused on Higher Tier expectations, including half equations and mole calculations, although some topics are also relevant to Foundation Tier students.
Please note: this is a recorded session, not a live lesson.
This session is available immediately after purchase, but access ends at 11:59 pm on Sunday 18 October 2026, regardless of the purchase date.
A fresh GCSE Science Exam Practice session will become available on Monday 19 October 2026.
